It’s been almost a decade since China introduced the National Low-carbon Day in 2013. New York hydroelectric producers are calling on energy regulators to give their industry equal footing with solar and wind, as the state attempts to transition to renewable power and carbon-free power generation.
The proposal, which is currently undergoing technical evaluation, aims to expand a two-megawatt hydropower facility in Atlin, British Columbia, to a 10.5 megawatt facility and export the extra power to Yukon’s energy grid via a new transmission line. The expansion project is expected to create local jobs.
