With India’s transition to higher levels of renewable generation, a broader range of technologies will play a crucial role in ensuring energy security and reliability. Between 2010 and 2019, India’s electricity demand increased by 220%, and by 2030, it will increase by 62%. In the next decade, smart meters and smart devices will be used in residential buildings, industrial and commercial services.

India violates Indus water treaty; launches another hydropower project on River Chenab

The 540 megawatts Kwar power hydroelectric project would be constructed over the Chenab river in the district of Kishtwar. Indian government’s Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved over INRs 45 billion for the project on April 27.

India to add 16 GW of renewable energy capacity in FY23: ICRA

India is likely to add an estimated 16 GW of renewable energy over FY23, rating agency ICRA said on January 10, adding that the country has a strong pipeline of 55 GW clean energy projects, PTI reported.

Azure Power inks PPAs for 2.3 GW of solar in India

Azure Power signed its largest Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a capacity of 2,333 MW of grid-connected solar power projects. The deal follows a 600-MW PPA signed in November under the same tender, which has a total capacity of 4 GW.
