BISCAY, Spain — Siemens Gamesa has signed a firm order with Ørsted for the 913-MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind power project. Three constituent areas within the overall development, located 50 km off the coast of Lower Saxony in the German North Sea, contribute to the 913-MW total export capacity. In addition to the installation of the 83 offshore direct drive wind turbines, Siemens Gamesa has been awarded a multi-year contract to service the turbines.

Siemens Energy should buy the rest of wind turbine maker to accelerate a turnaround at the Spanish-listed firm, Deka, the second top-10 shareholder in as many weeks to call for the takeover, said on Monday.
